La Cala de Mijas was originally a small fishing village and retains a lot of its charm. For golf lovers there are 4 golf courses all within a short drive, while for sun worshippers there are miles of beaches leading to Marbella which is only 20 minutes along the coast. The apartment itself is located in Jardin Botanico just 5 minutes' drive from the centre of La Cala with its many shops restaurants, and of course, its beaches. The property is bright, modern and well furnished with ducted hot/cold air conditioning throughout. It has lift access and there is easy on street parking. In the apartment itself entry is into an entrance hallway with a security entryphone system. From the hallway double doors lead into the spacious lounge/diner with its comfortable sofas, smart flat screen TV receiving English and international channels, DVD player and dining table seating 6. Patio doors lead out to the its large terrace with views over the communal gardens and pool A table and 4 chairs are provided for exterior dining. There are 2 double bedrooms both with inbuilt wardrobes. The Master bedroom has a double with Juliette Balcony facing south and an en-suite bathroom with bath and shower attachment. The second bedroom has twin beds and has use of a toilet with walk in shower cubicle. The kitchen is well equipped with a granite worktop, electric oven, ceramic hob, fridge freezer, microwave, dishasher, kettle and toaster. There is a separate utility room housing the washing machine. There is a large shared communal swimming pool enjoying stunning views of the Mediterranean sea. It has grassed areas for sunbathing, showers and toilet facilities. There are large communal gardens and a childeren's play area. The community is gated and entrance is by key entry. A refundable security of 300 Euros is requested. La Cala de Mijas (English: Mijas Bay) forms part of the Municipality of Mijas in the province of Málaga, Andalusia, southern Spain.
In the middle of the Costa del Sol, La Cala is located in the coastal zone of the municipality, and except a few rocks is practically urbanized within a 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) radius. It sits between the limits of Fuengirola to the east, and Marbella to the west.
With a population of over 24,000 inhabitants, the town is dedicated to tourism, but has some municipal services such as health centers, schools, house of culture and library.
Of ecological importance is the sea floor, which houses a rich biodiversity with the coexistence of a large number of European, African, Atlantic and Mediterranean species.

There should be a key collection at property - not the rental and sales agent. Costs more in a taxi from airport to go to agency office then on to property, inconvenient - should be able to arrive in taxi and collect keys at venue/property. Problem with keys not being in agency security box. Problem with defective keys and labelling on keys. Had to call agent out to get us in then replace the next day and get extra keys cut. Good enough to take us to 24 hour supermarket and airport for return flight.
